What HomeUpgraders is
HomeUpgraders helps homeowners and contractors document renovation projects: layouts, measurements, schedules, change orders, and automated checks against a library of Ontario building rules. It produces evidence and organization — not official approvals.
What our checks mean (and don't mean)
Partial coverage, always. Automated checks run only the rules currently available in our engine. A "pass" means those specific checks passed — never that a project is fully code compliant.
Draft checks are labeled. Rules marked "AI draft check — needs human review" are useful signals, not certified results, until a human has reviewed the underlying rule.
Measurements carry a trust tier. Every measurement shows its verification tier (Estimate Only, Silver, Silver+, Gold, Platinum) based on the calibration evidence in the scan. A tier can never claim more than its evidence supports.
Official decisions belong to officials. Building permits, inspections, and final code compliance are determined by municipal authorities and qualified professionals — not by this platform.

Homeowner and contractor accounts have the roles you choose at signup. Administrative roles cannot be self-assigned.
You are responsible for the content you upload; only upload photos of properties you own or have permission to document.
Contractor verification badges
Verification (license, insurance, WSIB clearance) is opt-in per item. We collect and display only what a contractor explicitly consents to share.
Badges reflect the status and expiry we were able to verify at the time shown. Contractors are responsible for keeping their documents current.
Absence of a badge means the contractor has not opted in — it is not a negative mark.
No automated actions without approval
The platform never sends messages, books work, initiates payments, or contacts anyone on your behalf automatically. Every outbound action requires your explicit approval. This is a design rule enforced in our systems, not just a promise.
Liability
Because our checks are partial and evidence-based rather than official, you agree not to rely on them as a substitute for professional advice or official inspection. To the maximum extent permitted by Ontario law, HomeUpgraders.ca is not liable for decisions made solely on the basis of automated check results, and our total liability is limited to the amounts you have paid us for the service.
Privacy, changes, and contact
